ELIGIBILITY

MBBS Eligibility For Local Candidates

  • HSC (Pre-Medical Group) with 60% Minimum Marks

OR

  • A-Level with at least 06 Subjects including English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry

Candidates applying from Pakistan with the Advanced Level of the General Certificate of Education or Equivalent, at least 03 Subjects are required with B Grade Minimum in each of the 03 Subjects.  These Subjects must include Biology, Physics and Chemistry
OR

  • American / Canadian High School Certificate with 3.25 Minimum GPA or 85% Final Average or Overall Final B-Plain Grade

OR

  • International Baccalaureate with 32 Minimum Score

 

MBBS Eligibility For Foreigners / Overseas Candidates

  • Candidates who have completed their studies with an American High School Certificate in Pakistan should have studied Biology, Physics and Chemistry at the Higher Secondary School Level (Grades 9 - 12).
  • Candidates from Overseas may apply with Mathematics in lieu of Physics at the Higher Secondary School Level (Grades 9 - 12).
  • Candidates following the American, Canadian or Equivalent System of Education, if shortlisted, are also required to submit SAT-II Test Scores in at least 03 Subjects. Candidates applying from within Pakistan must submit SAT-II Test Scores for Biology, Physics and Chemistry. 
  • For Candidates from Overseas who have pursued IB, British, American, Canadian System of Education or Equivalent, SAT-I (Minimum Eligibility Requirement for SAT-I is 1800; with 550 Minimum Score in each of the 03 Components: Writing, Critical Reading and Mathematics) will be acceptable in lieu of the AKU Admission Test.

PMDC Requirements for Foreigners / Overseas Candidates with Mathematics in lieu of Physics:
In accordance with the current rules of the PMDC, Candidates with Qualifications other than those from the Boards of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education in Pakistan are eligible to apply for Admission to the Medical College without a Pre-Medicine Equivalence that is, offering Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics in lieu of Physics.
Foreigners / Overseas Candidates will be required to obtain an Eligibility Certificate from PMDC by submitting the following documents to PMDC:

  • SAT-II Test Score with 550 Minimum Marks in each Subject that is Biology, Chemistry & Mathematics / Physics
  • Valid TOEFL / IELTS with 500 / 5.5 Minimum Score respectively only if the medium of instruction of study two years prior to application for Admission / Entry Test is not English. An alternate to TOEFL and IELTS is a Certification by NUML Islamabad after the 01 Year English Language Course
  • Equivalence from IBCC state that the Candidate's High School Qualification is equivalent (in any discipline) to a High School Qualification in Pakistan

Provisional Candidates
                      For Provisional Candidates, Short-listing, Interviews, Ranking by the Admission Committee will take place on Provisional-Basis; Admissions for Candidates selected with Provisional Status will be confirmed only if the HSC, A-Level, American, Canadian, IB, SAT-II, etc Transcripts are according to the Minimum Eligibility Requirements specified at the time of Admission and are submitted within the published deadlines

Centralized Admission Test – CAT
                      In addition to meeting Minimum Academic Eligibility Requirements, all candidates must meet the PMDC requirements for Admission to the Medical Colleges
                      In 2011, PMDC adopted regulations that require all eligible candidates to write the Centralized Admission Test (CAT) of their respective Province. If applicable, candidates in Pakistan will be required to write the CAT to complete Admission Requirements for AKU. This stipulation will not be applicable to candidates from Provinces where CAT is not conducted
                       University also conducts its own Admission Test. Entire Admission constitutes a Provisional Ranking Order for Admission. Thereafter, Admission to the University will be confirmed only if candidates in the Provisional Rank Order of the University also secure the requisite marks in CAT, if this is applicable to the candidate.

Question 1 is in 02 Parts and Tests Semantic and Syntactic Inference.

Writing Section:
Question 3 Calls for a short piece of Expository Writing.                                    Question 3 carries 6 Marks
Question 4 Calls for the Construction of an Argument from given information. Question 4 carries 12 Marks

Answer Questions 1 and 2 on the Multiple Choice Answer Sheet provided
Answer Questions 3 and 4 on the Essay Answer Sheet provided

  1. Each Correct Answer receives 01 Mark
  2. Negative Marking: there will be NO Negative Marking in the Admission Test

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

It is the Policy of the Aga Khan University to offer Admission to its Academic Programmes offered in Pakistan on a needs-blind basis. Financial Assistance Programme aims to assist Students who have limited financial resources to support the cost of their Higher Education.  Currently, Financial Assistance is awarded in the form of a combination of Grant-in-Aid and Student Loan to the Following Programmes offered in Pakistan:
