Candidates with any of the following deficiencies are NOT eligible to apply for Admission:

      • Process of Entrance Test is delinked from Admission Process
      • During an Admission Cycle, Candidates can appear in Entrance Test more than once to improve their Score and apply for Admission separately on the basis of Best Score when Applications are invited tentatively in May – June
      • Online Registration Form for NET-1 and NET-2 will be available on NUST website tentatively in March (Second Week) and May (First Week)
      • In Computer-Based NUST Entrance Test (NET), Candidates can choose the Date and Session of Test according to their convenience
      • Pattern and Standard of Question Papers for both Computer-Based and Paper-Based Tests is same
      • Pakistani Nationals (including Dual Nationality Holders) can Opt for both NET and SAT, Foreign Nationals can only apply for admission on the basis of SAT (International Seats)
      • B Architecture / B Industrial Design candidates have to appear in Cognitive and Aptitude test as well
      • Intelligence Section’s Questions will pertain to Arithmetical Reasoning, Critical Thinking, Analytical Approach and Problem Solving
      • Entrance Test Result for Computer-Based Test will be available on NUST Website within 24 Hours and for Paper-Based Test  within 7 Days
      • Negative Marking: There is NO Negative Marking in NUST Entrance Test

      SAT In Lieu Of NUST Entrance Test

      NUST has some SAT Specific Seats in Undergraduate Programs for Local / International Candidates.
      NUST encourages and facilitates both Foreign as well as Pakistani Students having Dual Nationality, to seek Admission in NUST.
      Following Categories can only apply for International Seats: 

      1. Foreigners and Pakistanis having Dual Nationality, irrespective of the place of their study of HSSC / Equivalent, Pakistan or Abroad
      2. Pakistani Students studied abroad for HSSC / Equivalent but appearing in the Pakistani Board from Abroad
      3. Pakistani National Students O / A Level and FA/ FSc Streams

      Desirous Candidates can avail the facility accordingly, provided they meet the specified Eligibility Criteria and are willing to pay Tuition Fee and Allied Charges of this Category. 
      Separate Application Form will be used for applying on SAT basis, available on NUST Website.
      Applicant must have passed HSSC / Equivalent Qualification in relevant category showing 12 Years of Education with 60% Minimum Marks / Equivalent Grade.
      Valid TOEFL / IELTS with 500 / 5.5 Score Minimum respectively. (Not applicable for the Student whose Medium of Instruction is English at HSSC Level).
      For all Undergraduate Programs SAT-II Test Score of 550 Minimum is required in each SAT Subject Test.

      Visit https://ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk and Register with NUST by providing valid E-Mail

      Candidate will be allotted a Login ID and Password to access the Online Application Form

      Login, Fill the Online Form, Upload Recent Photograph (with Plain Background), and submit the Form

      Successful Submission of Application Form will be confirmed through an E-Mail (by NUST Online System) in your E-Mail Account

      Re-Login to your Account and Print the Fee Invoice (From My Account Page)

      Candidates can Deposit the Fee with any HBL Branch or Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. Fee
      Submission will be Confirmed through E-Mail by NUST Online System within 10 Days

      Candidates of Islamabad Centre will have to choose Test Date and Session out of the Available Options

      Allocation of Test Date and Session will be made on ‘First Come First Served’ Basis

      Candidates of Islamabad Centre will be allocated Roll Number, Test Centre, Test Session, Log-in ID and Password for Computer-Based NUST Entrance Test (CBNET)

      For Paper-Based Test at Karachi and Quetta in July, Candidates will be informed through E-Mail (by NUST Online System) regarding Printing of Admit Card containing exact Centre and Time for Entrance Test

      Candidates are required to Print their Admit Cards and bring the same to the Test Centre along with Original CNIC or a Document with Photo ID such as Passport, Original Matric / FSc Certificate bearing Photograph, etc

      Result for Computer-Based Test will be announced within 24 Hours. For Paper-Based Test the Result will be announced within 07 Days

      Candidates desirous of improving their Score obtained in NET 1 and Fresh Candidates can apply for NET 2 planned to be conducted in June-July

      Admit Cards will be retained at the Test Centers for further verification

      Applying Online For Admission

      Visit https://ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk, Fill-up the Admission Form using NET (NUST Entrance Test) Registration Number

      If you have not submitted Application For NET earlier, Please do so now before Filling-up the Admission Form

      Candidate will use the User Name and Password already issued For NET

      Basic Candidate Data given in NET Form will be automatically picked by Admission Application. The same will not be editable

      Score of the Candidate applying for Admission before conduct of the Test will automatically be picked by the NUST Online System later for Merit Generation

      Candidates can apply for Admission in all Undergraduate Programs on the basis of NET / SAT Score or both, according to Eligibility Criteria

      Candidates applying on SAT Basis have to enter their SAT Subject Test Scores in their Form after the submission of Application Form. Those who do not enter their SAT Scores by Due Date (tentatively Mid of July)  will be assigned ZERO Weightage

      Re-Login to respective Candidate’s Account and Print the Fee invoice (For Depositing of Processing Fee) From My Account Page

      Candidates can Deposit the Fee with any HBL Branch / Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. Fee Submission will be Confirmed through E-Mail within 10 Days

      Candidates can change their Preferences after the Announcement of NUST Entrance Test Results / Merit Positions during the given time. No Application for Change of Preferences will be entertained thereafter

      Migration & Transfer Policy

      Under extraordinary circumstances, on the recommendation of the Commandant / Principal of the Concerned Institution, the Rector may allow Transfer of a Student within NUST, or Migration from other Foreign / Pakistani Universities / Colleges of repute, generally under the following conditions: 

        After completion of first year and before the beginning of final year.

        • Possesses good academic record.

        • Courses to be transferred have a minimum of B Grade.

        • Transfer within NUST will be allowed to students admitted on the basis of NUST selection process.

        • Inter-institutional transfers of students within NUST will be managed and processed on the basis of laid down procedure in vogue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I apply Online for admission to NUST ?
A Candidate / Applicant can fill and submit the Application Form available at NUST website www.nust.edu.pk after getting registered by providing his / her valid E-Mail Address.

Q: What documents are required to be submitted along with Application Forms ?
Prospective Candidates must be in possession of either Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or Form B without which the Application for Registration will not be accepted. Online Registration System will not require attachment of Documents / Credentials. However these Documents will be required for verification during Selection & Admission Process.

Q: Where should I deposit the Online Application Processing Fee ?
Application Fee in Pakistani rupees can be deposited in any branch of HBL or Standard Chartered Bank as per challan, to be printed on completion of Online Application. It can also be deposited through Credit Card.

Q: Can I apply on SAT Basis ?
You can apply on SAT basis, NUST requires following SAT Test Scores:-
SAT-II Test Score of 550 Minimum is required in 03 Subjects “Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry”

Q: Can I apply through SAT as well as Entry Test ?
Yes, you can apply through both the Streams but will be required to pay Additional Application Fee.

Q: What Category of Candidates can apply on SAT basis ?
Any candidate can apply on SAT basis provided he / she has SAT Test Score for the chosen Disciplines of Study. Admission on SAT basis has 02 Categories National & International. Candidates admitted on National SAT basis pay Tuition Fee & Allied Charges in Pak Rupees whereas Candidates admitted against International Seats pay the required Dues in US Dollars. For Candidates of Engineering / IT Programs, who want to apply for International Seats, the following Categories will be eligible:
• Pakistani National Students having passed an Examination Equivalent to Intermediate Level of Pakistan while being Abroad, from a Foreign Education System.
• Foreigners & Pakistanis having Dual Nationality, irrespective of the place of their Pre-Engineering Study, Pakistan / Abroad.
• Pakistani Students studied Abroad for Pre-Medical but appearing in the Pakistani Board from Abroad.
Q: What Score of SAT is needed ?
Seats for SAT Stream Candidates are limited. Therefore, a Candidate with High Score stands better chances of Selection. For Engineering Candidates the Minimum Score needed is 550 in each Subject.

Q: I am in my Final Year of A-Level & my result will come out in August, can I apply ?
Yes, you can apply as in such case you will be evaluated on the basis of O-Level Equivalence marks but you have to provide Equivalence Certificate of A-Level within 15 Days of announcement of Result, before the commencement of relevant Study Program.

Q: What is the Eligibility Criteria for applying in Engineering / BSCS Programs ?
Matric / O-Level / Equivalent Qualification (Science Group) and FSc / A-level / Equivalent Qualification (Pre-Engineering Group) with 60% Minimum Marks in each.

Q: I am a Pakistani living Abroad, can I apply for Admission as an International Student ?
Yes, you can apply for Admission against Seats reserved for International Students by submitting SAT Test Score and meet the specified Eligibility Criteria. Candidates have to enter their SAT Test Score at link available on My Account Page after submission of Application Form. Those who do not enter their SAT Test Score by due date will be assigned Zero Weightage.

Q: I am a Foreigner, Can I get Admission in NUST ?

Q: What is the Eligibility Criteria for International Students ?
To apply as International Student, candidates have to provide SAT Subject / SAT Reasoning Test Score as per requirement along with 60% Minimum Marks in Matric / Equivalent and FA / FSc / Equivalent Exam.

Q: If I have taken SAT Reasoning & SAT Subject Tests, do I still have to sit in the Entry Test ?
Those applying on SAT basis need not to take NUST Entry Test, however they can opt for NUST Entry Test in addition to SAT Specified Seats. In this way, they will be considered in both Streams.

Q: Is an Equivalence Certificate of Qualification other than Matric & FSc / FA necessary ? Can I not submit my O-Level and A-Level Certificates ? (I ask so, because I will be applying from Abroad) ?
Equivalence Certificates duly issued by IBCC, Pakistan are necessary for those Candidates who do not possess Matric & FSc / FA Qualifications. Submission of only O-Level & A-Level Grade / Mark Sheets will not serve the purpose.

Q: Is there any Age Limit for Undergraduate Admission ?
No

Q: How many Students get Admission in Medicine Programs on an average Per Year ?
Determination of Admission Seats are made on year to year basis depending upon availability of infrastructure and other relevant facilities

Q: Would the Admission Processing Fee / Security Deposit is refundable in case a Student does not join the University ?
University will refund only the Security Deposit to the Candidates who do not join the University. Admission Processing Fee is non-refundable.

Q: I could not appear in NUST Entrance Test, can I take the Test on some other day ?
NUST is conducting NET in Paper Based Format on one day and in Computer Based Format in Two Sessions daily on different days as per the Schedule. As a policy if a Candidate misses the NUST Test Session he / she is not given another chance. But in case of extreme emergency requests may be entertained on case to case basis.

Q: Is there any negative marking in the NUST Entry Test ?
There is NO Negative Marking.

Q: What is the deadline for Submission of SAT Test Score ?
Last date for SAT Test Score to reach NUST directly from College Board, USA can be checked on the NUST Website. NUST Institutional Code to receive SAT Test Scores is 2790. It is the responsibility of Candidates to ensure the provision of SAT Test Scores to Undergraduate Section, NUST, Sector H-12, Islamabad by the given deadline.

Q: What is the Tuition Fee for International Students ?
     US$ 3, 500/- Per Year

Q: Is migration to NUST allowed ?
Yes. Please refer to Migration & Transfer Policy mentioned above OR NUST Prospectus for further detail.

Q: Though I have submitted my Admission Form but I have not received my Admit Card, what should I do ?

Q: What is the Format of Questions in NUST Entry Test ?
Entry Test is in the form of MCQs. Paper of English is on the lines of SAT Exam. A Sample Paper may be seen on NUST Website.

Q: What is the total time of Entry Test ?
Total Time of Entry Test will be 03 Hours.

Q: Can I get some Sample Test Papers of NUST Entry Test ?
Mock Test for Computer Based / Paper Based Test is uploaded on NUST website www.nust.edu.pk under the link Downloads for Candidates to Practice.

Q: When is the result of NUST Entry Test published ?
Entrance Test Result for Computer-Based Test will be available on NUST Website within 24 Hours and for Paper-Based Test within 7 Days.
Provisional Merit Lists will be published 20 days after the last session of Entrance Test and placed on NUST Website for information of Candidates.

Q: Can I get a copy of NUST Entry Test result ?
Desirous candidates may obtain the result details of their Entrance Test from the link available on NUST Website.

Q: Can I apply for rechecking of Entry Test Result ?
Rechecking is only applicable for Paper Based Format of the Entry Test.

Q: When Will the Candidates of Engineering and BSCS Programs be able to print Admit Card ?
For printing of Admit Cards, Applicants for Engineering / BSCS are required to enter their complete FSc / A-Level Equivalence Marks. You can login to your Account even after closing of the Registration Date for entering the Marks and subsequently selecting the Test Schedule.

Q: What are the Eligibility Criteria for International Students (Engineering and BSCS Programs) ?
NUST has some SAT Specific Seats in Engineering and BSCS for International Students. For Admission in Engineering and BSCS Programs, Following Categories are eligible:
• Pakistani National Students having passed an Examination Equivalent to Intermediate Level of Pakistan while being Abroad, from a Foreign Education System.
• Foreigners and Pakistanis having Dual Nationality, irrespective of the place of their Pre-Engineering Study, Pakistan / Abroad.
• Pakistani Students studied Abroad for Pre-Engineering but appearing in a Pakistani Board from Abroad.

To apply as International Student on SAT basis, Candidates have to provide SAT Subject Test Score with 550 Minimum Score in each 03 Subjects “Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Candidates must also have 60% Minimum Marks in Matric / Equivalent & FSc / Equivalent Exam also.
60% Minimum Marks each in FSc / Equivalent Qualification with 03 Subjects out of which Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are essential Subjects (as certified by IBCC) for Engineering Programs.
Desirous Candidates can avail the facility accordingly, provided they meet the specified Eligibility Criteria and are willing to pay Tuition Fee and Allied Charges of the Category.

Q: Does NUST offer Scholarships / Financial Assistance ?
15% of Top Merit Position holders in NUST Entry Test with respect to Total Seats in respective disciplines will be awarded Tuition Fee Waiver for the 1st Semester (06 Months).
All those Students who continue to show good Academic Performance and maintain 70% and above will continue to get Financial Assistance in each Semester / Academic Year within the range of 15-75% of Tuition Fee.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

Merit-Based Financial Assistance:
NUST gives Financial Assistance to Students on Performance-Basis as mentioned below:
Engineering, Computer Science and Architecture:

  1. 15% of Top Merit Position Holders in NET are awarded waiver of Tuition Fee for the 1st Semester (6 Months)
  2. All those Students who show good Academic Performance and continue to maintain Minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 in Undergraduate Programs will continue to get Financial Assistance as Per Policy in each Semester

Need-Based Scholarships:

NUST Need-Based Scholarships (NNBS)

NUST provides Need-Based Scholarships to its selected UG Students of Fresh Entry every year on the basis of their Financial Need. The Scholarship will be for On Campus duration of the Program in which the student is enrolled. 
Need Based Scholarship Award will be of Two Categories:-

    1. Boarders (Full Tuition Fee Waiver)
    2. Day Scholars (Half Tuition Fee Waiver) 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Parents / Guardian Income (from all sources) should not exceed 35,000/- PKR Per Month for 2013 Entry
  2. Students securing admission on Open Merit are only eligible for the award
  3. All NNBS awardees will also be eligible to avail any Other Scholarship that does not provide cover for the complete expenditure of their Studies (Tuition Fee + Hostel + Food expenses).
  4. Selected Students will remain eligible fro deferment of Hostel Dues & Food Expenses to be payable after completion of degree, as per prevalent policy
  5. Continuation of scholarship is subject to availability of Funds, Satisfactory Academic Performance  i.e Semester GPA / CGPA > 2.5 / 4.0 For UG Programs and good conduct of the Student

NUST Financial Assistance For Undergraduate Students:

  1. For First Semester / Academic Year:  Financial Assistance will be awarded on the basis of Admission Merit. This award will be in the shape of Exemption of Tuition Fee for First Six Months / First Academic Year or as Per Policy in vogue which will be mentioned in the initial selection letters issued to the Candidates who have Secured Merit Position for the same.
  2. For Subsequent Semesters:  In case of Students registered in Programs following the Semester System, which include all Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture & Industrial Design Programs, the Financial Assistance will be awarded on the basis of Performance in Semester Exams. Students Securing Semester GPA 3.5 / above will be Eligible for the Award, as per following detail:-

Deferment of Tuition Fee & Subsistence Allowance:

  1. Deferment of Tuition Fee:

Needy Students who are unable to pay the Fees are allowed Deferred Payment on Case to Case Basis but they are given Degree after Repayment of Balance Amount Subsequently
Minimum 50% of Fee is to be paid in Each Semester with remaining 50% amount to be cleared before award of Degree so that they can get some jobs

  1. Subsistence Allowance:

In order to ensure equal opportunities and to attract more Students from the backward areas the following provisions shall apply:
Hostel Facilities shall be partially or wholly Subsidized for the Needy and Bright Students from the backward areas, subject to proof of their need for this concession; and
Student shall Pay-back the Subsistence Allowance so awarded after completion of his / her Degree
